Design Research Evolution was an exhibition and events programme at London Design Festival 2018 organised by Doctoral Design researchers from University of the Arts London, Kingston University and Royal College of Art.

From smart materials to skateboarding, and from surveillance to speculative design, LDoc’s showcase embraced new methods for design research and innovation.

A work in progress exhibition and series of workshops, the aim of the LDF experience was to highlight the variety of researchers across the LDoc program, connect with audiences to explore methodologies and gather feedback for the development of individuals ongoing endeavours.

The event was conceived as an opportunity for the LDoc researchers cohort to come together to promote and celebrate design research and provide a platform to advance research through public engagement.

Through the exhibition and the events, programme researchers were able to present their research in progress to an interested audience within the design and research community, share findings, methods and research practices with supervisors’ teams, peers, and friends and family.
